Love and Friendship

“Beloved, let us love one another, because love is of God; everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God. Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love.” —1 John 4:7-8
Such a wonderful little passage that explains the essence of God, and what we are called to do in this life and the next.

And, from the Angelic Doctor:
Friendship is the source of the greatest pleasures, and without friends even the most agreeable pursuits become tedious.-St. Thomas Aquinas
That's why I love my friends, and wish I could spend more time with the closest ones (darn IB! darn distance!)

I do wonder though how many friends he had. St Thomas was known as the 'dumb ox,' because he rarely talked,  though when he did, it was profound. Once he got past his initial failure, he put everyone else to shame, with great humility of course. Ah, he must have had many, for he had the Divine Friendship, and once you have that, you can imitate it with your friends here on Earth.
